Last year, a group of 20 of us from the church went to the West End to watch the critically acclaimed musical “Come From Away”.
We had a wonderful evening; the show was great, and it was a nice opportunity to spend time with other members of church in a different setting.
We would like to arrange more theatre trips in the future, so if anyone has any ideas of shows to see we will welcome suggestions. The added bonus of a group trip is you can get a good discount on tickets.
To get the ball rolling and to support our local community, I am arranging a group trip to see the musical “Parade” which is being produced by ESPA (East Surrey Performing Arts) at The Harlequin Theatre in Redhill on Friday 10th November.
“Parade” tells the tragic and true story of the trial and lynching of a man wrongly accused of murder. Now in its 25th year and having previously been nominated for 9 Tony Awards and 8 Emmy Awards, the themes of this show still resonate, as the backdrop of religious intolerance, political injustice and racial tension takes you on a journey through the darkest corners of America’s history. “Parade” is filled with soaring music and a heart-wrenching story, offering a moral lesson about the dangers of prejudice and ignorance that should not be forgotten.
Group price tickets are £19.50 each. Please let me know by 16th October (see contact details below) if you would like to be included.
(if you can’t make 10th Nov, there are also performances on 8th, 9th and 11th Nov which you can book independently via the Harlequin Theatre Box Office.)
Hopefully this will be the start of many more theatre trips.
